Cornwall Air Ambulance Launches Heli2 Hero Campaign to Support Lifesaving Missions

Published On: 25 March 2024Last Updated: 25 March 2024By

Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, a pivotal charity providing helicopter emergency medical services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, has introduced an exciting opportunity for supporters to become part of a critical lifesaving mission.

The initiative, named #heli2 hero, invites individuals, community groups, and loved ones to have their names inscribed on the base of a new AW169 helicopter.

Join the Lifesaving Mission

For a donation of £100, participants can directly contribute to the acquisition of a second advanced AW169 helicopter, bolstering the service’s capabilities and ensuring continuous operation during critical times. Lisa, a Critical Care Paramedic at the charity, expressed her enthusiasm for the return of the Heli Heroes campaign, emphasising the deeper connection supporters can establish with the lifesaving service through their contributions.

Impact of Your Support

Sherelle, an Individual Giving Fundraising Officer, highlighted the significant impact of adding a second aircraft: enhancing the resilience and capability of the service to attend to critically ill or injured patients more efficiently. “With your support, we are one step closer to securing an additional AW169 helicopter. We want to be able to attend even more patients by air, and save even more lives. We can’t do this without you!”

What You Will Receive

Supporters who join the #heli2 hero campaign will not only contribute to a noble cause but also receive:

  • Their name featured on the base of the second AW169 helicopter
  • A personalised certificate to proudly display
  • A #heli2 heroes pin badge

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring that early participants can secure their spot in this unique campaign.

The Vital Role of Cornwall Air Ambulance

The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is essential in providing rapid response medical services, attending over 1,000 missions annually across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Operating 19 hours a day, 365 days a year, the charity’s AW169 helicopter and rapid response vehicles are crucial in delivering timely medical care. With an average response time of 12 minutes across mainland Cornwall and less than 30 minutes to the Isles of Scilly, every second saved is vital.

Relying solely on the generosity of the community, without direct government funding for operational costs, the charity must raise over £7 million annually to continue its lifesaving work. The #heli2 hero campaign is a significant step towards raising the £2.85 million needed by the end of the year to bring an additional AW169 helicopter to the region, ensuring more lives can be saved every day.

Supporters are encouraged to become a #heli2 hero today and help make a difference in the lives of many. More information and how to participate can be found at: cornwallairambulancetrust.org/heli2heroes.
