Critical Expansion in Lifesaving Services
Paul Maskell, a Critical Care Paramedic with Cornwall Air Ambulance, emphasised the impact of acquiring a second helicopter. “It’s really important that we get a second AW169. What that will do is increase our capability across the 365 days, 19 hours that we cover. We’ll be able to fly to more patients and ultimately save more lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”
The new helicopter aims to boost the resilience and capability of the air ambulance service, ensuring faster and more efficient response times in critical situations.

A Beacon of Hope: St Michael’s Mount Lights Up
In a show of solidarity and awareness, St Michael’s Mount will illuminate in red on the evening of 12th September. This stunning visual tribute marks the ongoing efforts and commitment of the Cornwall air ambulance team and their supporters.
From Personal Tragedy to Community Triumph
Lewis, a new father from Redruth, shared his personal experience following a critical incident where the air ambulance team came to his aid. After collapsing at home and facing a potential brain bleed, the quick response and expert care provided by the air ambulance were vital. “I never thought I’d be a recipient of your care, never,” Lewis remarked. “There is something about this charity and something about Cornwall, and when you bring it together, the achievements and the future that it’s planning for with a second helicopter, it’s really ambitious, and we need that in Cornwall.”

How to Support the Heli2 Appeal
The campaign has already raised £1.25 million but needs further support to reach its £2.85 million goal. Supporters can contribute by making a donation on the Cornwall Air Ambulance website. Additionally, the BIG Heli2 Raffle offers a chance to win £2,500 among other cash prizes, with just a few weeks left to enter. For a more personal touch, donations of £100 allow supporters to have their name, or that of a loved one or community group, featured on the new helicopter.
Whether it’s through direct donations, participating in the raffle, or crafting unique fundraising events, every contribution brings Cornwall closer to securing this crucial air ambulance resource.
