Cornwall’s Roads Get a Fresh Look: What You Need to Know
Cornwall’s roads are set for a significant upgrade this summer as Cormac’s annual programme of surface dressing work is now underway.
The extensive project aims to enhance over 25 kilometres (more than 172 square metres) of roads, ensuring a smoother and safer driving experience for residents and visitors alike.
Enhancing Road Safety and Longevity
This year’s programme focuses on applying a new seal to the roads, a process that not only extends the life of the road but also prevents water from seeping under the surface. Additionally, the new surface treatment is designed to improve skid resistance, making the roads safer for all users.
Key Areas to Benefit First
Cormac’s teams will prioritise heavily trafficked areas and main roads, aiming to complete these critical sections before the start of the school holidays. This prioritisation ensures that the roads most in need of attention receive treatment first, reducing the impact on the highest number of road users.
Schedule and Weather Dependence
The work is scheduled to continue until the beginning of August, with teams taking advantage of the warm, dry weather to ensure the dressing is properly established. However, Cormac notes that the schedule is highly dependent on weather conditions, and dates may change at short notice.
Road Closures and Diversions
To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, some roads will need to be closed, with diversions put in place while the work is carried out. Signs will be posted to advise residents and road users of upcoming works, helping everyone to plan their journeys accordingly.
Stay Updated on Roadworks
For those interested in knowing which roads will be treated next, Cormac encourages checking their programming page. This resource will provide detailed information on the upcoming works, helping residents stay informed and prepared for any disruptions.
Cormac’s commitment to improving Cornwall’s roads is evident in this substantial programme, promising a better and safer driving experience for all.
