What’s Inside a Jam Jar? Oddfellows Members in Cornwall Find Out Over Chocolate and Quizzes
Monthly meetings in Redruth and Truro serve up fun, friendship and a flurry of activity
Members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society in Redruth and Truro were treated to a fun-packed afternoon recently, with plenty of laughter, sweet treats and creative challenges on offer at their monthly meetings.
Memory Games, Chocolate Wrappers and a Quirky Quiz
The session featured a series of observation and memory games alongside a quirky quiz, with miniature Easter eggs handed out to the winners. Things got even more imaginative with a playful ‘Identify the Chocolate Wrapper’ competition, before the group rounded off the afternoon with a prize raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will go to a local cause, to be chosen by members.
Sweet Treats and Member Support
Alongside the fun and games, attendees were offered a generous selection of chocolate biscuits, sweets, fruit and hot drinks. There was also an important reminder from the Oddfellows District Welfare Rep about the support available to all members, including care and welfare services, citizens’ advice, and access to a range of allowances.
Shoebox Appeal and Creative Competitions
The group continued their collection for the Shoebox Appeal, with members donating hygiene items, toys and blankets to help those in need.
There was also a burst of colour and creativity as the first entries arrived for the ‘Decorate a Jam Jar’ competition. Winners will be announced later this year, with shopping vouchers up for grabs.
Book Club and Upcoming Events
Several free books also found new homes during the well-received book club segment of the afternoon. A coffee morning is planned next, with more monthly meetings already scheduled for April in both Redruth and Truro.
