Ceilidh Cornwall is inviting everyone to step onto the dance floor next week with free classes as part of the national Let’s Dance campaign. From 3rd – 7th March, all ceilidh dance classes will be completely free to attend, offering people of all ages the chance to experience the joy and benefits of dance.
How to Book Your Free Class
To join in, simply send a message stating:
- The class you want to attend
- The number of people in your group
- If children are joining, their ages (under 12s are best suited to the Friday class, but teens can attend any session)
What Is the Let’s Dance Campaign?
The Let’s Dance campaign was created to promote the physical, mental, and social benefits of dancing. It was inspired by Angela Rippon CBE’s experience on Strictly Come Dancing, where she saw first-hand how dance can improve wellbeing.
Angela partnered with national organisations to launch Let’s Dance, a campaign aimed at making dance accessible to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced dancers.
Why Try Ceilidh Dancing?
Ceilidh dancing is recognised as a great way to improve physical and mental health. According to the Sport and Recreation Alliance, movement and dance offer the same benefits as any other form of physical activity.
As Angela puts it:
“Dance is the perfect exercise to improve the health and wellbeing of mind and body, regardless of age or physical condition. And a great way to meet new people and beat isolation and loneliness.”
