A St Austell-based driving instructor has made her own protest on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – walking alongside her horse, draped in both the Ukrainian and St Piran’s Cornish flags.

A Symbolic Statement

Carol Truscott marked the occasion by leading her horse, aptly named Hope, in a striking display of solidarity. With the animal adorned in the colours of both Ukraine and Cornwall, Carol’s protest combined support for Ukraine with a nod to Cornish identity.

Rather than taking to the streets in a traditional march or rally, Carol chose to walk beside Hope, making for a powerful image as the world reflects on three years of war.

Her act of remembrance is one of many taking place globally as individuals continue to show support for Ukraine’s ongoing fight for its future.
