Cornwall Residents Encouraged to Step Up: Free Training on Tackling Unacceptable Behaviour
Cornwall residents are being offered a unique opportunity to gain vital skills and knowledge in responding to unacceptable behaviour, including domestic abuse and sexual violence. The free “Bystander in the Community” training, commissioned by Safer Cornwall, aims to empower individuals across the region to make a positive impact in their communities.
This two-hour training session is designed to equip participants with the basic tools needed to safely and effectively intervene when they witness harmful behaviour. By providing these skills, the programme seeks to strengthen Cornwall’s communities, fostering safer and more supportive environments for all.
Access the Training Online
One of the most convenient aspects of this training is its online availability. With new dates being added monthly, anyone interested can book a place through Eventbrite. The flexibility of the online sessions allows participants to engage in the training from the comfort of their own homes, making it accessible to a wide audience across Cornwall.
Become a Trainer Yourself
For those who are passionate about spreading this knowledge further, the training also offers a “Train the Trainer” option. This two-day course, held at Pydar House, is designed for individuals who wish to become certified trainers themselves. By completing this course, participants will be able to deliver the “Bystander in the Community” training to others, further extending the programme’s reach and impact.
Tailored Sessions for Groups and Teams
In addition to the standard sessions, there is also the option to arrange bespoke training for specific groups or teams. These sessions can be tailored to meet the needs of different organisations and communities and can be delivered either online or in person. Interested parties can contact Barnardo’s Healthy Relationships Cornwall at healthyrelationshipscornwall@barnardos.org.uk directly to organise these customised training sessions.
Certification and Support
All participants who complete the training will receive certification, as well as follow-up support to ensure that the skills and knowledge gained are effectively applied in real-world situations. This added support underscores the programme’s commitment to making a lasting difference in Cornwall’s communities.
