Cornish Oddfellows Join Past Presidents for Sociable Weekend in North Devon
Annual gathering brings together members from Cornwall and across the Southern Group
Past Presidents of the Oddfellows Southern Group recently gathered for a sociable weekend at the Barnstaple Hotel in North Devon. The event, which has become an annual tradition, brought together members from across the region, including branches from South Wales. The group enjoyed a weekend of activities and shared lunch, strengthening friendships that have been built over years of service to the society.
A Special Gathering
Four members travelled from Cornwall to attend the weekend, including Pete English from Redruth and Ken Thomas from Helston, both of whom have served as Presidents of the Southern Group. Pete and Ken were accompanied by their wives, Tina and Joan, who are also active members of the Oddfellows. The event in Barnstaple provided a chance for these members to reconnect and celebrate their shared commitment to the society.
A Prestigious Year for Pete
This year holds particular significance for Pete, who currently serves as the Provincial Secretary for Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows. Pete has been awarded the prestigious Unity Meritorious Jewel, recognising his 52 years of membership with the society. This accolade marks a very special personal milestone for Pete, highlighting his longstanding dedication to the Oddfellows.
