The Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows recently celebrated the dedication of long-serving member Bill Cook with a special award. The presentation took place during the district’s final Management Committee meeting of 2024, held at Oddfellows Hall, Green Lane, Redruth.

Bill, a local businessman and Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master, was surprised to receive the District Meritorious Service Jewel. The award was presented by Tina English, the current Provincial Grand Master, in recognition of Bill’s significant contributions to the district.

Tina commented, “Bill has shown huge loyalty to the District and its members and despite having a busy work schedule gives freely of his time and skills for the benefit of the Oddfellows. I cannot think of a more deserving person for this award which is given on behalf of us all. Thank you, Bill, for all you do.”

A Tradition of Service

This award follows another recent accolade for the district, as Secretary Pete English was recognised with the internationally renowned Unity Meritorious Service Jewel. Pete’s remarkable 52 years of membership and service to the Oddfellows Friendly Society were celebrated with this prestigious honour.
