Treviglas Academy Stuns UK Drama Scene with National Award Win

Treviglas Academy has been crowned Winner of the Outstanding Drama Department Award at the Music & Drama Education Awards 2025, a highly competitive national event that recognises excellence in performing arts education across the UK.

A Drama Department Like No Other

This prestigious award acknowledges drama departments that go above and beyond to offer exceptional theatre experiences, ensuring students receive top-tier drama education both inside and outside the classroom. Judges assessed schools based on their ability to provide inclusive and accessible drama education, despite financial and time constraints.

Sam Colborne, who leads the Creative Arts Programme at Treviglas Academy, expressed pride in the achievement:

The academy’s drama success has been bolstered by key collaborations with some of the UK’s leading theatre organisations, including The Royal Shakespeare Company, Hall for Cornwall, Prodigal UPG, and WildWorks Theatre. These partnerships have provided students with professional experiences and industry insights, ensuring they gain exposure to real-world theatre.

Showcasing Creativity on Stage

Recent productions have demonstrated the academy’s artistic excellence, with I Am a Stranger bringing together over 100 students and local community members in a dynamic performance on Lusty Glaze Beach, blending music, dance, spoken word, and drama. Meanwhile, the whole-school production of Neverland, a modern reimagining of Peter Pan, further showcased the school’s commitment to creative storytelling and performance.
