A night to remember in Truro

The Roseland Academy’s Class of 2025 marked the end of their school journey in unforgettable fashion last Thursday, 4th July, at their end-of-year prom held at The Alverton Hotel in Truro.

The evening began in Probus Square, where excited school leavers gathered for photos and farewells before travelling in convoy to the venue. Their arrival at The Alverton Manor Hotel was anything but ordinary.

From tractors to tuk tuks

Students pulled out all the stops, arriving in a mix of stylish and surprising vehicles, from sleek sports cars and vintage classics to tractors and even on horseback. One standout arrival included a tuk tuk, drawing cheers from onlookers.

But one prom-goer found themselves in an unexpected situation when their vehicle broke down on Tregolls Road.

A helping hand from the police

Devon & Cornwall Police stepped in to save the day, picking up the stranded student and giving them a lift to the hotel. With a touch of good humour, officers “escorted” the student to the prom and jokingly “released” them on good behaviour to join their friends for the celebration.

A final farewell

Once inside the historic hotel, the celebrations continued with a series of light-hearted awards presented to students by Head of Year 11, Emma Atkins.

Emma said: “What a fantastic evening! It is always such a joy to celebrate with our Year 11 leavers! Highlights included arrival on a tuk tuk, police rescue and Tina Turner on repeat. Wishing all our Year 11s the best for the future and the summer of their lives!”
