Tech Cornwall’s After-School Club: A Hands-On Adventure in Physical Computing

Is your child ready to explore the world of technology? Tech Cornwall Explorers is offering a six-week after-school programme in Redruth that gives young minds the chance to dive into the exciting field of physical computing.

A Six-Week Journey into Technology

From 6th November to 11th December, every Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM, children aged 10 to 14 will engage in interactive sessions that focus on Raspberry Pi and physical computing. Held at FibreHub in Pool, this programme offers a unique opportunity for students to develop skills in programming, electronics, and teamwork.

What to Expect

The after-school club is designed to guide participants through a hands-on experience, starting with basic Raspberry Pi setup and moving on to building and programming their own rover. The sessions include:

• 6th November: Introduction to Raspberry Pi and circuit building.
• 13th November: Understanding basic electronics with LED and buttons.
• 20th November: Learning Python programming.
• 27th November: Building a functioning rover.
• 4th December: Programming the rover with Python and Raspberry Pi Pico.
• 11th December: Using Arduino and completing the Mission to Mars rovers.

Materials Included

Each session is fully equipped, providing participants with Raspberry Pi kits, sensors, and other materials needed to bring their projects to life. The programme ensures an engaging, educational experience for all attendees, fostering creativity and technical skills.
