Families are in for a treat as Stick Man, the beloved character from the picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, makes a much-anticipated return to Cardinham Woods in 2025. This interactive forest trail promises a blend of storytelling, hands-on activities, and outdoor fun, designed to captivate children and adults alike.
Trail Opens in February
Starting 5th February, Cardinham Woods will host the Stick Man activity trail, inviting families to follow the character’s journey back to the family tree. Along the way, young adventurers will engage with interactive activity panels and participate in hands-on experiences, from building with sticks to learning about forest wildlife, birds, and nests.
Sam Lebbern, manager of Cardinham Woods, expressed excitement about the trail’s return:
“We’re delighted to welcome Stick Man back to our forest for an exciting year of family adventures. This new activity trail offers the perfect blend of storytelling and outdoor exploration to help children connect with nature in a fun and memorable way. It’s wonderful to see how a beloved character like Stick Man can inspire the next generation of nature lovers, and we know he has plenty of help on the way to find his way back to the Family Tree.”
Adventure Packs for a More Immersive Experience
To enhance the experience, families can purchase an activity pack for £4. These packs include materials for creating their own Stick Man and an adventure passport, which can be stamped along the trail as participants complete each activity.
A Continued Partnership
This trail builds on the successful partnership between Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures, which has brought Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s characters to life in natural settings since 2014.
