Revolutionise Your Career with Free Skills Bootcamp Courses in Cornwall
Residents of Cornwall and Devon can now take advantage of nearly 100 free Skills Bootcamp courses designed to enhance employment opportunities.
The Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps have opened 2,000 spots for adults in the region eager to upskill, change careers, or explore new opportunities.
Meeting Local Skills Demand
This latest wave of Skills Bootcamps, offered by Devon County Council in partnership with Cornwall Council, addresses the local demand for skills in priority sectors such as childcare, hospitality, healthcare, and renewable energy. For the first time, the programme includes Skills Bootcamps in Early Years, with 120 places available to fast-track individuals into the sector and onto level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeships. This move aims to support the growing need for childcare provision in the region.
Real Success Stories
Leanne Semmens from Hayle is one of the many success stories of the Skills Bootcamp. Having struggled with traditional education as a teenager, Leanne worked various jobs before seeking a new challenge. She completed the Welding and Fabrication Skills Bootcamp and shared her positive experience: “I wanted a change of direction and the bootcamp was a great way to learn a set of new skills in a supportive environment. We’re really lucky to have this available to us.”
Supporting Families and the Economy
Councillor Barbara Ellenbroek, Cornwall Council’s portfolio holder for children and families, highlighted the flexibility of the Bootcamps, which are crucial for families with caring responsibilities. She noted, “There is such a wide range of courses available, perfect for people who have typically struggled with traditional training routes.”
Councillor Louis Gardner, portfolio holder for the economy, emphasised the importance of these Bootcamps for the local economy. He stated, “The Skills Bootcamps can now offer even more opportunities for residents to access high-quality skills training which will in turn support our growth industries in Cornwall. This is vital in ensuring that we have a strong, thriving economy in years to come.”
Flexible and Accessible Training
The Skills Bootcamps are tutor-led, flexible courses lasting from 2 to 16 weeks. They offer adults (aged 19+) the chance to build in-demand skills. The programme is designed with input from employers to ensure training meets current recruitment needs. The courses are free for individuals looking to change careers, the self-employed seeking to grow their business, and those not currently working but aiming to enter the workplace. Employers wishing to upskill their staff can access these courses with a required contribution.
Guaranteed Employment Opportunities
One of the standout features of the Skills Bootcamps is the guarantee of an interview with an employer upon completion. This offers a direct pathway into new employment for those who successfully complete the programme.
