Mawnan CE VA Primary School Receives First Donation from Community Organisation

Mawnan CE VA Primary School, located near Falmouth, has become the first beneficiary of Jozef’s Dream CIC, a community-interest company dedicated to improving the lives of children with complex needs in Cornwall.

The school was awarded a grant to purchase sensory equipment, marking the first step in Jozef’s Dream’s mission to create more inclusive learning environments for children with additional needs.

Supporting Children with Complex Needs

Jozef’s Dream CIC was founded by Heidi Stasiack, who aims to create sensory spaces in schools while fostering a sense of value and inclusion for all children. Heidi, inspired by her son Jozef’s life and challenges, envisions a Cornwall where medically complex children are free from stigma and empowered to lead fulfilling lives.

“We are pleased to be in the position to make our first donation as we work towards bringing our vision for Jozef’s Dream to life,” said Heidi. “We believe that every individual has a valuable purpose in life, and we are grateful to our committee members and supporters who have helped us fundraise and help us make the lives of children with complex needs and their families better.”

A Personal Journey

Jozef was born on 6th November 2010 with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, a rare condition. Tragically, his twin brother Jacob passed away at just three-and-a-half months old. Heidi hopes to honour their shared journey by improving the lives of children in similar circumstances.

“This is the first of what will be many grants to help create sensory environments within more Cornish schools,” Heidi added. “Providing more inclusive settings where special pupils have a better chance of realising their potential.”

Ongoing Support for Families

In addition to providing grants, Jozef’s Dream hosts a monthly support group for families of medically complex children. These sessions take place on the second Tuesday of every month, from 12 pm to 12.30 pm, at The Hub in Carnon Downs.
