Helston is celebrating the launch of a new circus centre, ‘Cirk Hes’, which promises to become one of the UK’s premier facilities for circus arts.

This innovative hub will take over from the esteemed Cornish social circus charity formerly known as Cirque du Ciel, which has been a pivotal part of the community for over two decades.

A New Chapter in Circus Arts

Cirk Hes, Cornish for ‘Shoal Circus’, aims to bring together the community through the joy and thrill of circus arts in the scenic county of Cornwall. The new name reflects not only the geographical heritage but also the communal spirit that the centre aims to foster.

We’re so excited to move into this new, better space.”

She also emphasised the accessibility of high-caliber training, “You won’t have to go to Bristol, London or abroad to learn these skills anymore. We’ll bring UK-wide professionals to Cornwall too to develop unique new performances.”

Originally started in Penzance, the charity has significantly grown, especially in the last five years under new management.
