Dive into Christmas Fun: Free Swimming for Families in Cornwall
Families across Cornwall receiving free school meals can enjoy a festive treat this Christmas, with free swimming sessions available at seven leisure centres across the county.
Free Swimming Across Cornwall
From Monday 23rd December to Friday 3rd January, children and their families can participate in Swim for All and Family Fun sessions at Better leisure centres in Bude, Saltash, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Helston, and St Ives. However, the swimming pools in St Austell and Liskeard remain closed for refurbishment.
The offer, part of the Time2Move Holiday Programme, is delivered in partnership with Active Cornwall. Families must present a Time2Move voucher to access the sessions for free. Each voucher allows free entry for the eligible child and up to four members of their group.
How to Access the Free Swimming Sessions
Karen Edmond, Community Sport Manager for GLL in Cornwall, highlighted the importance of the programme for active family fun during the festive season. “It’s important to note that places can’t be booked online in advance, and parents or guardians need to present their unique Time2Move voucher at reception when going for their swim,” said Karen.
Families can check their eligibility for the programme by visiting the Active Cornwall website.
About the Time2Move Holiday Programme
Funded by the Department for Education, the Time2Move Holiday Programme ensures that families benefitting from free school meals can access activities during the holidays. GLL, the not-for-profit social enterprise that manages Cornwall’s leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council, supports the initiative to promote health and community engagement.
