Cornwall Heritage Trust Launches Environmental Programme for Youth
The Cornwall Heritage Trust is inviting teenagers aged 14 to 18 who are concerned about the planet’s future to join a groundbreaking environmental programme. This programme is designed to empower young individuals to address the climate emergency and enhance their skills in countryside management.
Titled the Climate Action Youth Group Young Rangers Project, the programme offers a unique opportunity for young people to actively participate in environmental conservation activities. Participants will meet once a month to work on various tasks aimed at environmental preservation and enhancement. These activities include heathland regeneration and efforts to increase biodiversity at historic sites maintained by the Cornwall Heritage Trust.
This new endeavour is part of a broader commitment to involve the youth in meaningful environmental action and education. By engaging in this programme, young people will not only contribute to the well-being of the planet but also develop valuable skills in managing and conserving natural and historical landscapes.
The project receives support from English Heritage’s national youth engagement programme, Shout Out Loud, highlighting the importance of youth involvement in heritage and environmental conservation efforts.
Interested individuals are encouraged to express their interest by 9 am on Monday, 18th March 2024. Further details about the programme and how to get involved can be found on the Cornwall Heritage Trust’s website.
This programme represents a significant step towards engaging the younger generation in the fight against climate change and the preservation of our natural and historical heritage.
