A Step Forward for Community Development

Olly Monk, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for housing and planning, emphasised the importance of the Community Infrastructure Levy in raising funds from new developments to support community projects. This initiative reflects the council’s commitment to improving facilities and opportunities for children and young people in Cornwall.

The projects were selected through a rigorous application and selection process, ensuring that they meet local needs and have community support. The funding is part of the council’s broader strategy to use CIL payments for infrastructure projects that benefit communities and mitigate the wider impact of development.

Future Prospects

With the successful allocation of funds in this third round of the CIL Fund, Cornwall Council is expected to launch a fourth round in the spring. This ongoing support underscores the council’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its younger residents and fostering a more inclusive and accessible environment for all.

This substantial investment in children and young people’s projects across Cornwall marks a significant milestone in the region’s development, promising a brighter future for its younger generation.
