Cornwall College Group Launches Virtual Events for Home Educated Students

In a significant move to expand educational opportunities for home-schooled students, The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) is set to host a series of informative virtual events. These events, scheduled for the evenings of March 9th and May 13th, aim to illuminate the diverse educational pathways available through TCCG, particularly focusing on its Elective Home Education (EHE) programmes.

David Atkinson-Beaumont, the Corporate Lead for EHE at TCCG, expressed enthusiasm about the success of the EHE programme in the current academic year. He stated, “We have seen fantastic success with our EHE programme this academic year and we’re really excited to roll out the offer again for September.” Atkinson-Beaumont highlighted the programme’s goal of providing home-educated learners with access to specialised industry equipment and staff, thereby enriching their education with a comprehensive college qualification.

The virtual events are designed to cater to both students and parents, offering them a chance to explore the extensive range of courses available at TCCG campuses across Cornwall and Devon. These include locations such as the Cornwall College campuses in St Austell and Camborne, Duchy College Rosewarne and Stoke Climsland campuses, Falmouth Marine School, and Bicton College. The initiative typically targets learners in Year 11 who are passionate about subjects offered by TCCG.

TCCG’s EHE programmes are uniquely tailored to meet the needs of home educators, offering vocational pathways in fields such as Animal Care, Art & Design, Childcare, Engineering, Games Design, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, and Sport. Enrolled students will benefit from full access to college facilities, including Learning Resource Centres and career education advice & guidance.

The programmes are designed not only to supplement home education but also to facilitate a smooth transition into further education, apprenticeships, and employment, aligning with the individual career goals and ambitions of the students.

For those interested in learning more about these opportunities or registering for the events, TCCG encourages visiting their website at www.cornwall.ac.uk/ehe or contacting them directly at 0330 123 2523.

The Cornwall College Group stands as a beacon of educational excellence in Cornwall & Devon, committed to providing high-quality, tailored education that empowers students for success in further education and beyond, as evidenced by their innovative approach to supporting home-educated students through their Elective Home Education programme.
