ASONE Hub, in a significant boost to music education, has been confirmed as the successful Hub Lead Organisation for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, overseeing music education into 2025.

This confirmation comes after a robust application process facilitated by Arts Council England (ACE). ASONE Hub stood out as the best candidate to fulfill the objectives laid out in the National Plan for Music Education, designed to enrich music learning experiences across the region.

Strategic Funding for Future Music

ASONE Hub’s responsibilities will be supported by a substantial funding pool, with a total of £12.5 million allocated for music hubs across the South West from the Department for Education and Arts Council England. Specifically, ASONE Hub will receive £694,206 in revenue and an additional £228,041 for capital investments. These funds are intended to enhance the music education infrastructure by acquiring new instruments, equipment, and technology that will benefit learners throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Impactful Outreach in 2023

The past year was a landmark for ASONE Hub as it reached over 20,000 individuals through its dynamic partnerships and programs. Notable among these efforts was the First Access programme, which introduced over 10,000 children to musical instruments. The programme’s success is a testament to ASONE Hub’s SMART strategy and collaborative approach, which have significantly enhanced both child and adult music education in the region.

A Diverse Music Programme

ASONE Hub’s activities extend beyond traditional music education. The Hub has introduced a diverse array of workshops and events, such as the Songfest and collaborations with the Cornwall Music Festival and the Lowender Festival. These initiatives highlight the Hub’s commitment to merging traditional with contemporary music forms, fostering a vibrant cultural tapestry that supports a wide array of musical talents and preserves local heritage.

Supporting Underprivileged Youths

ASONE’s efforts also focus on inclusivity, with special initiatives targeting underprivileged youths and fostering international collaborations. A noteworthy project included a partnership with the Romanian Music Hub, allowing young musicians from Romania to experience and contribute to Cornwall’s rich musical landscape.

Forward-Looking Statements

Looking ahead, Cindy from ASONE Perform expresses enthusiasm about continuing the momentum: “We are truly delighted to lead into 2025. Our aim is to further our reach into local communities, enhance our collaborative efforts, and ensure every young person in Cornwall has access to quality music education.” Similarly, Darren from Arts Council England remarked on the power of music education to enrich lives and open professional pathways for young people.

Phil from Arts Council England adds, “We are thrilled to support these hubs, which promise to connect thousands of young talents with first-class music education, ensuring that everyone, everywhere, can express themselves musically.”
