Wave Project Launches Expansive Summer Surf Sessions Across Three UK Locations
In an exciting announcement, The Wave Project has unveiled plans for its much-anticipated Summer Surf Sessions, set to take place this July. Known for bringing joy, excitement, inclusivity, and fun to participants, this year’s event promises to be the largest yet, expanding to three locations across the UK. The sessions are scheduled for Saturday, 6th July, and will be held at Watergate Bay, Cornwall, as well as at the project’s adaptive hubs in Scarborough and Croyde, Devon.
The Wave Project’s Summer Surf Sessions stand out as the only free surfing event in the UK tailored specifically to meet the needs of children and young adults with disabilities and mental health needs. The initiative aims to tackle the challenges these individuals may face when entering the water. With the support of skilled surf coaches and dedicated volunteer surf mentors, the project endeavours to equip participants with the confidence they need to thrive in the aquatic environment.
This year, the event boasts the backing of charity partners SaltrockSoul and Osprey Action Sports, ensuring that the sessions will be as engaging and supportive as ever. The Wave Project’s approach to surf therapy has demonstrated significant success in the past, largely owing to the altruism and commitment of its volunteers. The organisation emphasises the pivotal role volunteers play in the execution of the Summer Surf Sessions and invites those interested in contributing to their cause to reach out and get involved.
As the Wave Project prepares to welcome participants to its expanded surf sessions, the event is set to underscore the power of community, sport, and the natural environment in fostering inclusivity and confidence among young people facing unique challenges.
