Want to Help Dogs in Need? St Francis Dogs Home Needs Volunteers Now!
Can You Spare Some Time to Make a Difference?
St Francis Dogs Home is on the lookout for volunteers to support its vital work across Cornwall. Whether you can give a few hours each week, once a month, or just every now and then, your help could make a huge difference.
The charity is running a series of events promoting dog rescue, seeking foster carers, and collecting donations. Current activities are focused in and around Newquay, Truro, and Bodmin, with plans to expand into Falmouth and Hayle.

Volunteering Opportunities
There are plenty of ways to get involved, even if working directly with dogs isn’t an option right now. While St Francis does not currently have dogs living on-site, the charity needs support in many other essential areas:
Transport
Volunteers are needed to transport dogs to foster homes, vet appointments, and training sessions. Some foster carers may also need help receiving food deliveries if they are unable to drive.
Home Checking
Every rehomed dog’s placement is subject to a thorough home check. St Francis needs volunteers throughout Cornwall to conduct these checks and ensure dogs are placed in safe, loving homes.
Fundraising & Events
Would you be happy to represent St Francis at local fetes, fairs, dog shows, or educational events? Volunteers are needed to help promote the charity, sell donated goods, and collect vital donations.
Maintenance
If you’re handy with tools or good at gardening, St Francis needs help maintaining its grounds, mowing grass, securing fencing, and keeping equipment in good repair.
Social Media Support
Are you skilled at managing social media? A Media Support Volunteer is needed to help raise awareness online.
Collection Tins
Even if you only have a little time to give, you can still help. St Francis needs volunteers to place collection tins in local shops and businesses, monitor them, and return full tins to the charity. These small efforts raise significant funds to support the charity’s work.
Support for Volunteers
St Francis provides training to ensure all volunteers feel confident in their roles. Volunteers will also be insured while carrying out charity duties and can claim back out-of-pocket expenses, including travel costs.
Regular social meet-ups are arranged so that volunteers can connect, share experiences, and celebrate the success stories of the dogs they’ve helped.
