Trio Embarks on Charity Bike Ride from UK to France in Memory of Alfie Beard
In a heartfelt tribute to Alfie Beard, who tragically passed away in August 2022, his father Fran, uncle Jon-Paul, and their friend Taff are set to undertake a challenging charity bike ride today, Saturday, 13th April.
Starting at 6 AM from St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, their journey will stretch all the way to Mont Saint-Michel in France and back, aiming to raise funds for The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station and keep Alfie’s adventurous spirit alive.
A Journey of Remembrance and Support
The team, deeply moved by Alfie’s untimely departure, is motivated to honour his memory through this significant effort. Last year, Fran and Jon-Paul completed a similarly demanding ride from John o’Groats to Land’s End, covering over 1,200 miles. This year, with the addition of Taff to the team, they hope to further commemorate Alfie’s passion for life’s adventures, an enthusiasm he himself had hoped to express by participating in last year’s ride.
The Route and The Cause
Setting off from the picturesque St Michael’s Mount, the riders will face a gruelling journey across England and over to France, finally returning to their starting point in Cornwall. The funds raised will support The Lizard Lifeboat, specifically ‘The Rose’, a boat crewed by Jon-Paul and other brave volunteers who are dedicated to saving lives at sea.
How to Contribute
Supporters are encouraged to contribute to this noble cause by making donations through their GoFundMe page, accessible here. Every donation, no matter the size, will aid the team in completing their challenge and assist in maintaining vital lifeboat services that keep mariners safe.
The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station’s Message
The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station and its volunteers have expressed their deepest gratitude and best wishes to Fran, Jon-Paul, and Taff. They look forward to celebrating the trio’s safe return at the completion of their ambitious journey. The community is invited to follow their progress and extend their support to keep Alfie’s memory alive through this touching tribute.
Whether you can donate, share their story, or simply send good wishes their way, every bit of encouragement helps these riders on their heartfelt mission. Join them in making a difference, inspired by Alfie’s love for adventure and his everlasting impact on those he left behind.
Almost Home – Update 20/04/2024
