One Last Push: Steven Webb to Complete Cornwall 500 Challenge This Weekend
After an incredible journey around the stunning coastlines and picturesque towns of Cornwall, Steven Webb is preparing for the final stretch of his Cornwall 500 Challenge this Sunday, 29th September.
An Adventurous Journey
Steven’s journey has taken him to many beautiful locations, including the Isles of Scilly and numerous towns and villages in West Cornwall. By the end of Monday, 23rd September, he had travelled nearly 400 miles, overcoming various challenges along the way. From mechanical issues with his wheelchair to battling unseasonal weather conditions, Steven has shown unwavering determination to complete his mission.
Last Friday, Steven was joined by his daughter Kember, son-in-law James, and granddaughter Koa as he travelled from Sennen Cove to Penzance, making a special stop at the famous Jubilee Pool. On Saturday, he had the honour of leading the Cornwall Banger Rally Challenge team off on their journey to Croatia.
Highlights of the Final Week
Steven’s penultimate week has been eventful. On Sunday, he travelled 31 miles from Mousehole to Mullion, passing through Praa Sands and Porthleven, with a brief visit to the iconic St Michael’s Mount. A late finish saw him navigating the last few miles in darkness to Mullion Cove.
On Monday, Steven made his way from Kynance Cove to St Keverne, taking in the scenic beauty of Lizard Point and Cadgwith. A detour to The Goonhilly Earth Station allowed him to deliver a plaque to Natural England.
The Final Countdown
Steven will finish his challenge this Sunday with a celebratory event titled “The Last Leg”. He will return to Truro, starting at Truro City Football Club at around 12pm, and visiting New County Hall, the Old City Hospital, Victoria Gardens, and the Cathedral before arriving in Boscawen Street. He will then make his way down Lemon Street to Back Quay at 2pm, just in time to enjoy the final day of the Truro Food and Drink Festival and Truro Food Market.
The event will feature a special musical welcome by members of Pendennis Brass Band and Choir, performing the first public rendition of “Sing It Home,” a song commissioned for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.
Steven’s journey can be followed via a live tracker which releases details of his route daily at 10:15 am. You can also keep up with his travels on social media:
