Newell’s Travel Staff to Take Part in County-Wide Charity Race for Penhaligon’s Friends

On Sunday 7th September 2025, staff from all 11 branches of Newell’s Travel will ditch their desks and hit the road for a high-energy, clue-filled adventure across Cornwall – and it’s all in the name of charity.

From Travel Desks to County-Wide Race

Inspired by the TV series Race Across the World, the ‘Race Across the County’ will see each branch set off from their own location with nothing but a sealed envelope of cryptic clues and a limited fuel budget. Their goal? Navigate a route packed with checkpoints, quirky detours, and community-driven challenges – all while working together using their local knowledge and teamwork.

“This isn’t your average Sunday drive,” said Lisa Hawken, Manager and Events Co-ordinator at Newell’s Travel. “It’s all about raising as much as we can for a brilliant cause and embracing the adventurous nature of our industry!”

Supporting Bereaved Children in Cornwall

Every mile covered and every clue solved is in aid of Penhaligon’s Friends, a Cornish charity that supports children and families coping with bereavement. The organisation also trains professionals such as teachers and carers to provide understanding and compassionate support.

“All donations go directly towards helping children rebuild their lives after bereavement,” said Bryony Penberthy, Regional Sales Manager. “We’re incredibly proud to support Penhaligon’s Friends and shine a light on the life-changing work they do across Cornwall.”

Supporters are being encouraged to back their local Newell’s Travel branch by donating. The first team to cross the finish line could earn their supporters a spot in a prize draw to win two seats on one of the company’s popular coach holidays.
