New Grant Funding Opportunity for Women’s Projects in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

Published On: 8 May 2024Last Updated: 8 May 2024By

Cornwall Women’s Fund (CWF) has officially opened its 2024 grant funding application window, offering financial support to community projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that aim to improve women’s mental health.

This year’s funding round gives preference to projects addressing perinatal mental health.

Research-Driven Focus

The decision to prioritise this area stems from comprehensive research conducted in 2021 by a team at Oxford University. The team explored the unique challenges faced by women and girls in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Their findings, which included interviews with community and charity leaders and direct input from women themselves, revealed significant gaps in support for perinatal mental health. Consequently, the Cornwall Women’s Fund membership selected women’s and girls’ mental health, particularly perinatal care, as a focal point for 2024 funding.

Funding Details

Grants ranging from £500 to £1,000 are available, and eligible organisations or groups must:

  • be a not-for-profit organisation or group working with women in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly (groups do not have to be registered charities)
  • be working with women to support their mental health as a primary focus, with a preferred focus on perinatal mental health
  • based on evidence of need, be seeking to take an existing successful project to a wider audience or starting something completely new
  • plan expenditure of grant within 12 months of any award
  • show that the project or activity will bring about tangible positive outcomes for beneficiaries
  • be prepared to share their experience of being a CWF benefiting organisation with donors and/or future applicants

Previous Grant Successes

Past grant recipients have successfully delivered various programmes, such as employability workshops, volunteer training, and after-school carpentry workshops.

The application deadline is 4th June 2024, and the grants are managed by the Cornwall Community Foundation. More information, including the application form and guidelines, can be found on their website.
