MS Sufferer Takes on Epic 480km Cornish Coast Challenge for Charity
Simon Teagle, an individual living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), is preparing for an extraordinary feat of endurance to raise funds and awareness for the Samson Centre for MS in Guildford, Surrey.
He plans to run 480km along the Cornish Coast, covering the equivalent of 11.5 marathons and facing over 18,000 metres of elevation gain, all within just seven days.
Running for a Cause
The challenge, taking place from May 12 to May 18, 2024, will see Simon navigating the rugged terrain from Bude to Plymouth, documenting his journey on Instagram (@teagle_ms_runner) and Facebook (Teagle MS Runner). He aims to raise funds through “Team Cornish Coast Challenge”.
Simon’s determination stems from his personal battle with Relapsing Remitting MS, which he has managed effectively for the past five years. Despite his condition, Simon remains active, engaging in marathons and ultra races to support MS-related causes. His current focus, however, is on the Samson Centre, a support hub for his mother who has been living with MS for 40 years.

The Samson Centre’s Impact
The Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis offers vital support to individuals living with MS, providing services like physiotherapy, exercise classes, and oxygen therapy. The centre delivers over 7,000 sessions annually, creating a welcoming environment for its members.
Simon expressed his motivation for the challenge, stating, “my MS hasn’t hindered me physically unlike others, including my mother who rely on the services of The Samson Centre. I’m raising funds through this challenge to sustain their invaluable support. Your donations are my fuel.”
Community Support
Debbie Boulter, the centre’s manager, highlighted the importance of fundraising, noting, “With no government funding, we rely on fundraising activities like Simon’s amazing challenge. Such support allows us to continue helping as many members as possible in living their best lives with MS.”
Simon’s journey not only showcases his resilience but also emphasises the importance of community support. Through this formidable challenge, he hopes to inspire others affected by MS while ensuring the ongoing success of the Samson Centre.
