Meet the New Faces Helping Shape the Future of iSightCornwall
Charity announces four new trustees as it prepares to mark 170 years of service
Cornwall’s sight loss charity, iSightCornwall, has announced the appointment of four new trustees who bring a broad mix of experience from business, charity, volunteering and technology.
As the charity prepares to celebrate its 170th anniversary next year, the addition of Mel Richardson, Beatrix Love, Jahred Love and Rhys Morris to the board comes at a pivotal time.

Strengthening the Board
Mel Richardson, known locally for managing the Newham Business Improvement District and her consultancy work on BIDs, brings years of experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Mel’s background in strategic oversight, governance, and risk management is expected to play a key role in supporting the board.
Having been a long-time member of iSightCornwall, Mel first discovered the charity’s work through Newham BID and quickly became an avid supporter.
Joining Mel is Beatrix Love, a client of iSightCornwall who is registered severely sight impaired. Beatrix brings first-hand knowledge of the charity’s services and a background in business and home education.
Her husband, Jahred Love, has also joined the board. Jahred is a software and electronics engineer leading global call quality strategy for an international telecommunications company. Alongside his professional expertise, he brings his own experience with sight loss through Beatrix.
The fourth appointment is Rhys Morris, a familiar face among the charity’s volunteers. Rhys began volunteering after his late wife became a client following sudden sight loss. Now a dedicated volunteer driver and member of Lions International, Rhys adds charity awareness and fundraising experience to the board.
Each of the four trustees has been co-opted and will be formally voted on by members at the charity’s next AGM.
Change in Leadership
These new appointments follow the departure of four longstanding trustees whose terms are coming to an end this year. Current chair Ian McCormick and trustee Steve Holyer have already attended their final meetings.
Clare Green, previously vice-chair, has now stepped into the role of chair.
iSightCornwall Chief Executive Carole Theobald said:
“I’m delighted to announce that we have welcomed four new trustees to our board following a rigorous selection process. All four come from a range of different backgrounds, and each demonstrated an eagerness to use their skills to help the charity reach its goals.
“I’d like to also personally thank both Ian and Steve for their support on the board and their contribution to the charity over the past seven years. They were both on the interview panel for our new trustees and are confident that they are leaving the charity in good hands!”
As iSightCornwall looks ahead to its milestone anniversary, the charity says its team and trustees are turning their attention to the future and continuing their work supporting people living with sight loss in Cornwall.
