In a generous act of community support, Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon has donated £2,000 to Home-Start Kernow, a charity dedicated to assisting young and new families in Cornwall who face isolation and mental health challenges.

The cheque presentation took place at the Bodmin Family Centre, marking yet another contribution by the developer to local welfare.

Two Decades of Assistance

For over 20 years, Home-Start Kernow has been a pillar in the Cornwall community, offering crucial support to parents and children under five. Through their commitment to aiding families, the charity has trained numerous volunteers to provide in-home and group support, ensuring that parents do not have to face tough times alone.

A Parent Helping Parents

The support provided by Home-Start Kernow includes regular visits by volunteers who have parenting experience themselves, offering both emotional and practical help. This approach not only alleviates stress and challenges but also promotes a sense of community and mutual support among families.

Ongoing Community Support

Jane Cartwright, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon, expressed her pride in supporting Home-Start Kernow, citing the charity’s vital role in the community and the importance of continuing to aid such organisations. This donation is part of a larger effort by Persimmon Homes, which contributes £24,000 annually to various groups across Cornwall and West Devon, including recent support to the Bodmin Town Band and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Future Prospects

Jo from Home-Start Kernow shared her gratitude for the donation, highlighting the increasing demand for their services amid rising living costs. She emphasised that the funds would significantly help in continuing to offer support to families in need and expanding their reach to ensure no family is turned away.

With this contribution, Persimmon Homes not only supports the ongoing efforts of Home-Start Kernow but also reinforces its commitment to enriching the communities where they operate, aiming to leave a lasting, positive impact.
