Dyslexia Cornwall Celebrates £19,995 National Lottery Boost
Funding to support dyslexia services in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
Dyslexia Cornwall has received a significant boost with a £19,995 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, which provides funding for good causes across the UK. The award was announced at Dyslexia Cornwall’s annual planning meeting, held at Chacewater Village Hall on 10th September 2024.
Support for Cornwall’s Dyslexic Community
For over 30 years, Dyslexia Cornwall has provided a vital, volunteer-led service offering information, advice, and guidance. This free support is delivered through multiple channels, including a helpline, website, social media, and community events. The charity assists adults and young people with dyslexia and other neurodiversities, helping their families, employers, educators, and the wider community across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Expanding Services with New Funding
Chairperson Barbara Hewett-Silk expressed her gratitude for the National Lottery’s support. She said, “We are delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players, Dyslexia Cornwall will be able to continue to provide our current services and develop a subsidised adult screening and mentoring service over the next year.”
The charity’s work extends across the community, collaborating with local authorities, schools, training providers, Jobcentres, employers, and other voluntary organisations.
