Cornwall Holiday Let Raises Money for Parkinson’s UK and Cornwall Air Ambulance
An award-winning holiday property in Cornwall has helped raise hundreds of pounds for two major charities this year, showcasing how the tourism industry can make a positive impact.
Stephen Chidgey, the owner of the Old Barn in Tregonetha near St Wenn, donated a four-night stay at the property to a silent auction held by Parkinson’s UK. The bid reached an impressive £1,600, with the proceeds supporting the charity’s vital work.
In a letter addressed to Stephen, Parkinson’s UK Chief Executive Caroline Rassell wrote:
“Your contribution was greatly appreciated by the attendees and significantly contributed to the success of our fundraising efforts…Every pound and penny raised helps bring real breakthroughs closer for people with Parkinson’s.”
Supporting Cornwall Air Ambulance
The Old Barn also regularly supports Cornwall Air Ambulance, encouraging guests to make donations with every booking. Stephen matches these contributions, doubling the impact of their generosity.
“I would love to see more tourism providers doing something similar,” said Stephen. “The Cornwall Air Ambulance is here for everyone, residents and visitors, and it makes absolute sense to support the charity and help keep their helicopters flying.”
Stephen expressed delight at the success of the auction for Parkinson’s UK and looks forward to welcoming the winning bidder to the Old Barn. “They can be assured of a break to remember,” he added.
