Supporters at the recent Cornish Pirates home game against Cambridge have raised nearly £800 for a Cornwall-based mental health charity.
The match day collection, held at the Mennaye Field in Penzance, brought in an impressive £797.25 for The Chy Sawel Project – a registered charity working towards establishing a pilot treatment centre for people living with long-term mental health problems.
“Absolutely amazing” support from fans
Sandra Breakspeare, founder of The Chy Sawel Project, shared her thanks after the match:
“Our appreciation is expressed to the Cornish Pirates for permitting us to make a collection, and a huge thanks also to the club’s generous supporters.
“It was once again a case of Cornish folk responding in an above and beyond manner, as they always do, and the amount we collected was absolutely amazing.
“Oh, and we are also delighted that the Cornish Pirates won what was a very entertaining match!”
