Carlyon Bay Golf Club’s Generous Gift to Cornwall Hospice Care

In a heartwarming act of community spirit, Carlyon Bay Golf Club has made a significant contribution to Cornwall Hospice Care, showcasing the profound impact of collective efforts in supporting vital local services.

The golf club’s captains, Maggie Holmes and James Wakeham, have been at the forefront of this commendable endeavour, selecting Cornwall Hospice Care as their charity of the year and successfully rallying members to raise funds for the cause.

Throughout the past 12 months, the club has hosted a variety of events, culminating in a substantial donation presented during their recent Presentation Night. Kelly Tregaskes, a Community Fundraiser for the hospice, gratefully accepted the generous sum, which amounted to over £5,712.00, including £200 raised specifically at the Presentation Night.

James, the Men’s Captain, shared his personal connection to the cause, highlighting the hospice’s goal to ensure that all individuals in Cornwall living with a terminal illness have access to necessary care and support at the right time and place for them and their families. His dedication to the cause is evident through his efforts over the year and the remarkable £4,260 raised through his JustGiving page, which remains active until the end of his captaincy in March.

This collective effort by the Carlyon Bay Golf Club members underlines the community’s commitment to supporting crucial services that touch many lives. Cornwall Hospice Care, with its mission to provide compassionate care, stands to benefit greatly from such donations, enabling them to continue their essential work in the community.

James’ JustGiving page is still open if you would like to donate.
