Angela’s £100 prize shows Camborne’s loyalty scheme is delivering rewards

Angela Bradford has been rewarded with a £100 prize after winning the March BID Camborne loyalty card draw – just six months after moving to the town from the Midlands.

The 58-year-old, who previously lived in the Black Country near Birmingham, says she and her partner have found everything they hoped for in Camborne – including a friendly community, good public transport links and a vibrant high street.

“Camborne gets a rough ride in some quarters, but I can’t praise it enough,” said Angela. “We genuinely feel very lucky to live here and are so glad we made the move.”

From Holidays to Home

Angela and her partner had been coming to Cornwall on holiday for 27 years, but it was during the lockdown period that they started to seriously consider making a permanent move.

“We had a good look round different areas of the county to see what was available and, having sold our house in Walsall within three weeks, chose a bungalow in Camborne,” she explained.

“We honestly love it here as it’s so much friendlier than where we lived before. Everyone seems happy to chat – including our post lady and the men who collect our bins.”

She added that access to local services such as a doctor’s surgery, a variety of shops, and Camborne railway station have made life even easier.

“We can get to a beach within ten minutes and being able to get on a train means we can walk around different areas of Cornwall easily. I’ve only driven our car three times since we moved.”

Weekly Craft Sessions and Friendly Faces

Angela says one of the things she appreciates most is the sense of connection.

“We didn’t choose a rural location because we didn’t want to feel isolated, and Camborne has been brilliant in that respect too. Our neighbours are lovely, and we’ve made friends locally.”

She now regularly attends the Friday morning craft sessions and Wednesday crochet group at Delight2Bite, run by Sharron, the owner of the delicatessen.

“Sharron organises our get-togethers and couldn’t be more welcoming. It’s a great way of meeting new people.”

Angela also praised the Camborne loyalty card scheme, which rewards shoppers for spending at participating businesses in the town.

“I’m delighted to support businesses in the town and think the loyalty card scheme is excellent.”

How the Loyalty Scheme Works

The Camborne loyalty card scheme, launched by BID Camborne, encourages people to shop locally by collecting stamps from participating businesses.

Each card requires a minimum £2 spend per stamp and is entered into the monthly draw when ten stamps are completed. Prizes of £100, £75 and £50 are up for grabs, and individuals can submit as many completed cards as they like.

Loyalty cards are available in participating Camborne businesses.
