Louis Lights Up Camborne: Four-Year-Old Steals the Show

Camborne welcomed the festive season in style as four-year-old Louis Hood stole the spotlight at the Christmas lights switch-on.

Born with half a heart, Louis has undergone three open heart surgeries in his short life. But his condition hasn’t stopped him from living life to the full. Waving to the crowds and wishing them a Happy Christmas, Louis brought joy to the hundreds gathered for the event.

A Moment to Treasure

“Louis is a real cheeky chap who loves to act out scenes from his favourite movies,” said his mother, Jodie Hood, speaking to ITV Westcountry. “He’s just such a character, everyone who meets him loves him.”

Reflecting on the special moment, Jodie added, “With Louis and his special heart, hopefully he is here forever, but every moment counts. It’s about making special memories, and this is one we can really treasure.”

Festivities in Camborne

The event, organised and funded by BID Camborne with support from Camborne Town Council, was a true celebration of community spirit. The streets were transformed with Winter Wonderland shop windows, stage performances, and stilt walkers.

“The atmosphere was wonderful, and Louis was amazing,” said Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne Manager. “Having him there to light up Camborne was hugely special for everyone.”

Some participants added to the fun by dressing up in fancy dress, including Samantha Hussey, Chair of BID Camborne.

“It’s been a privilege for BID to organise the town’s Christmas lights again this year,” said Samantha. “We hope that they bring lots of good cheer to our customers and visitors during the festive period.”
