Hidden Spaces on Camborne High Street Could Soon Be Up for Grabs
An online meeting described as “exciting” and “productive” could soon open up new opportunities for entrepreneurs and community groups in Camborne.
Making the Most of Unused Space
The latest Prosperity Accelerator Partnership (PAP) meeting, organised by BID Camborne, focused on a new concept called “Space in a Space.” The idea is simple but effective — making redundant areas within existing premises available for others to rent.
Unused storerooms, for example, could become stock or packing rooms for new mail order businesses. Office meeting rooms could be hired out in the evenings to fitness instructors or community creatives, making better use of town centre space and extending opening hours.
“The idea is to make the most of high street space, extend standard opening hours and maximise commercial opportunities,” said BID Camborne Manager Anna Pascoe.
Positive Response from the Community
The online meeting attracted a wide range of participants, including business owners, further and higher education representatives and training providers.
Anna said the session “felt both exciting and productive” and expressed enthusiasm about what could come next. “I’m looking forward to seeing how the scheme progresses over the coming months and, specifically, to seeing new entrepreneurs being helped to get their first step onto the high street ladder.”
Directory Now Open
BID Camborne is inviting anyone interested in offering or renting space to join a new directory they are putting together.
The PAP is part of Project A-Void Phase 2 — a government funded Town Deal project managed by BID Camborne and overseen by Cornwall Council.
