Camborne’s Top BID Project: You Decide! Vote Now

Published On: 21 October 2024Last Updated: 21 October 2024By

BID Camborne is inviting the public to help celebrate its 12th anniversary by voting for their favourite project. The Business Improvement District (BID), first established in 2012, has been a business-led partnership aimed at boosting commercial activity in Camborne. Over the past twelve years, the team has rolled out numerous projects and is now asking residents to have their say on which has been the most impactful.

Twelve Years of BID Camborne Projects

BID Camborne has been instrumental in introducing initiatives such as the shopper’s loyalty card, annual events like Christmas in Camborne, Fun Fridays, Tykes on Trikes, and Independents’ Weekend. They have also partnered with Camborne Town Council to organise the Camborne Community and Commerce Awards.

One of their notable achievements includes managing the Town Deal Project A-Void scheme, offering grants of up to £5,000 to local businesses to improve their premises. Other efforts include collaboration with GWR to create unique art installations at Camborne railway station and successful lobbying against out-of-town developments, including the Polstrong project.

Crime Reporting App and Public Poll

Their most recent development has been the BID app, a tool designed to enable the community to quickly report crime and anti-social behaviour. Now in their third successive five-year term, BID Camborne is marking the milestone with a public poll on their social media channels to find out which projects resonate most with the local community.

Anna Pascoe, BID manager, said: “Our directors give up their time freely to help Camborne be a great place to do business, and there have been some wonderfully creative schemes in the last twelve years. That’s why we thought it would be a fun idea to mark our twelfth year with a public poll on our social media platforms.”

The team is encouraging the public to vote on their favourite BID projects by visiting @cambornetown on Facebook, Instagram, and X before the deadline of 31st October. Once the votes are tallied, the results will be published for the community to see.
