Camborne School Sources Farm-Fresh Eggs from Local Supplier
Local farm-fresh eggs now on the school menu
Camborne Science & International Academy (CSIA) has begun serving free-range eggs from Cornhill Farm, a local supplier based in Kehelland, as part of a fresh approach to school meals.
The change comes after the school brought its catering service in-house earlier this year, aiming to make food healthier, fresher and more sustainable for students. The eggs from Cornhill Farm are now delivered weekly and feature in a range of dishes on the new menu, including breakfast items and baked goods.
Backing Cornish farms while feeding Cornish students
The partnership with Cornhill Farm highlights CSIA’s commitment to sourcing ingredients locally, supporting Cornwall’s farming community and reducing its environmental impact. In addition to the eggs, the school has also started sourcing meat from Etherington Butchers, with plans to bring even more Cornish produce into the kitchen.
Principal Emma Haase said:
“It’s a small change with a big impact. By choosing local eggs, we’re not only boosting the quality of food for our students, but also backing our local farmers and reducing our environmental footprint. It’s a real win-win.”
A new direction for school catering
Since taking catering in-house, CSIA has focused on offering balanced, nutritious meals throughout the day to support students’ learning and wellbeing. The use of local produce plays a key role in this, making sure that what’s served is both high in quality and reflective of the school’s values.
Camborne Science & International Academy, part of Athena Learning Trust, is a secondary comprehensive school in Camborne, Cornwall. The school is rated Good for quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management, and Outstanding for its Sixth Form provision.
