Camborne Celebrates Local Heroes with Annual Community and Commerce Awards
Camborne has opened voting for its much-anticipated Community and Commerce Awards, an annual event that since its inception in 2020, has become a key fixture in the local calendar. This event, jointly organised by BID Camborne and Camborne Town Council, is dedicated to celebrating the remarkable contributions of individuals, groups, and businesses within the community.
With twelve categories open for nominations, the awards aim to highlight the efforts of those who live, work, volunteer, study, or are involved in community activities in Camborne. Residents are encouraged to participate in the voting process, which is facilitated through physical voting boxes located across various establishments in the town including the library, Tyacks Hotel, Kath’s Plaice, Up Memory Lane Interiors, Camborne Games, British Heart Foundation, Tesco, Delight2Bite, and Cornish Oven. Additionally, online voting is available on the Camborne Town Council website, ensuring accessibility for all.
Anna Pascoe, the BID Camborne Manager, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s event, stating, “These awards have become a highlight of the Camborne calendar, and we’re looking forward to another bumper year of nominations.” She emphasised the community’s strength and unity, viewing the awards as an opportunity to celebrate the town’s unique spirit.
Camborne Mayor Zoe Fox echoed this sentiment, praising the town’s vibrant community and the importance of recognising those who contribute significantly to its welfare. “Camborne is a fantastic place to live, work, and play, and we have a great sense of community. It’s nice to be able to recognise this through these awards,” she remarked.
The awards aim to acknowledge the unsung heroes and pillars of the community, from teams and businesses to individual contributors who go above and beyond in their efforts to make Camborne a better place. With the nomination deadline set for midday on 13 March, the community is urged to cast their votes for their favourites. The culmination of this celebration of community spirit will be at the awards ceremony on 23 May, where the winners will be announced, honouring their invaluable contributions to Camborne.
