Camborne Bar Shut Down: Police Take Action After Violence and Disorder
Three-month closure order served on Soul Bar
A well-known bar in Camborne has been ordered to close for three months following what police described as “relentless disruption” to the local community.
Yesterday, 3rd June, officers from Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police served a closure order at Soul Bar, a licensed premises that had become a hotspot for violence, antisocial behaviour and noise disturbances.
Reports of abuse and street disorder
Police said they had received repeated reports of alcohol-fuelled antisocial behaviour, violence and noise spilling out of the venue and onto the street. Verbal abuse was also reported towards members of the public passing by, as well as to others working in the town’s evening and night-time economy.
According to police, efforts were made to work with the business in the first instance to tackle the ongoing problems. However, those efforts failed and the disruptive behaviour continued.
Entry now a criminal offence
The closure order makes it a criminal offence for anyone to enter the premises for a three-month period.
In a statement published on Facebook, Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police said:
“Securing a closure order is never our first course of action. Our team attempted to work alongside the business to tackle the cause of ASB in the first instance. However, our attempts weren’t successful, and this behaviour continued without any consideration of the impact this was having on the local community.”
They added:
“We hope this shows that we are listening to your concerns and taking action to keep you safe.”
