A Dragon Called Fire? Camborne Street Art Sparks Imagination on Trevithick Day
Street art draws the crowds
The streets of Camborne are getting a colourful new look thanks to local artist Cosmic, who has been commissioned by BID Camborne to paint 12 BT boxes around the town. The project, part of the government-funded Town Deal “Project A-Void Phase 2”, is managed by BID Camborne and overseen by Cornwall Council.
Cosmic joined the BID Camborne team on Trevithick Day to gather more inspiration for future artwork — and the public didn’t disappoint.
Fire the dragon takes shape

One standout moment from the day came from Charlotte Stairmand, who shared her idea for a Camborne dragon named Fire. Working together with Cosmic, the pair brought Fire to life on paper.
“The new street art is proving extremely popular and there were plenty of additional ideas like Charlotte’s for brightening up the town even more,” said Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne manager.
Buzz around the BID stand
Visitors to the BID Camborne stand included winners of the monthly loyalty card draw, as well as families keen to sign up for the upcoming Tykes on Trikes event, which takes place on Sunday 26th October.
“We were buzzing all day, with lots of people stopping to chat,” said Anna.
“Many of them wanted to talk about the loyalty card and how they had been spending their prize vouchers locally, whilst Cosmic was a big attraction for all those who have seen his artwork around the town.”

Celebrating Camborne’s creative spirit
Anna added that Trevithick Day continues to be a major highlight of the Camborne calendar: “Celebrating Richard Trevithick’s ingenuity is a highlight of the Camborne calendar and this year’s event was certainly one to remember.”
