Joshua Bond wins top regional title for heating upgrade in 1800s cottage

Joshua Bond from Porkellis has been named the Best Heating Installer in the South West in the Heating Installer Awards 2025.

Joshua runs Off Grid Plumbing and Heating Ltd, working across Cornwall and the wider South West. His winning entry showcased his work on a 19th century cottage with no central heating. He designed a modern, efficient system using Hydrated Vegetable Oil (HVO) boilers – offering an environmentally friendly alternative for the property.

“The service was amazing”

The customer who nominated Joshua praised the clarity of communication and the quality of his workmanship:

“The service was amazing, he told me exactly what he was going to do and why and there were no surprises because he’d highlighted things that might be an issue before hand.

“His work was very neat and tidy even in an empty house, and he put everything back perfectly. The installation is so neat I get comments from every other contractor who attends. He was also very honest about what would work and not for me, designing my system to what I needed.”

Recognised by top names in the industry

The Heating Installer Awards are now in their tenth year and aim to raise the profile of skilled professionals in the trade. This year, the judging panel included experts from partners and sponsors such as CIPHE, The IPG, Polypipe Building Products, Refresh, Samsung Climate Solutions, Stelrad and Powered Now, along with a team of previous winners.

Entrants were judged on their problem-solving skills, product knowledge and the quality of their work.

Vote to help Joshua win the national title

Joshua is now in the running for the overall national award, with the winner due to be announced on 25th June 2025 at InstallerSHOW at Birmingham NEC.

You can help Joshua take the national title by voting at the Heating Installer Awards website.

Voting closes at midnight on 27th May 2025. Public votes will contribute 25% of the final score, alongside the judges’ decisions and results from a technical challenge.
