Is This the Ultimate Go-Anywhere Yacht? Hardy 45 European to Make World Debut in May

A brand-new ocean-going motor yacht with serious inland cruising credentials will make its world debut between 9th and 11th May 2025 at the South Coast & Green Tech Boat Show in Southampton’s Ocean Village Marina.

The Hardy 45 European, the latest model from Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding, is set to turn heads at Stand 59 with its blend of robust, seafaring strength and modern luxury design.

Based near Falmouth in Cornwall, Cockwells is best known for creating bespoke superyacht tenders, custom motor launches, and its popular Duchy Motor Launch range. In 2020, the company acquired the assets of Hardy Marine and has since continued to honour the brand’s iconic status with both traditional builds and modern reimaginings.

Designed for Coastal Passages and Canal Cruising

Using the same semi-displacement hull as the legendary Hardy 42, designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, the Hardy 45 European delivers a smooth ride and exceptional seakeeping.

“Although she easily traverses rivers and canals, her tried and tested hull design delivers the seakeeping of a rugged, ocean-going pilot boat – a unique quality in this class of vessel,” said Dave Cockwell, Founder and Sales Director of Cockwells.

The vessel’s folding radar arch, low-profile design, and optional bow and stern thrusters make it ideal for inland waterways, passing under bridges and manoeuvring with ease.

At sea, its twin 440hp Yanmar shaft drive engines offer speeds up to 28 knots and a cruising range of 330 nautical miles at 18 knots (subject to final sea trials). With a fuel capacity of 1650 litres and water capacity of 550 litres, it’s well-suited for long-range cruising.

Luxury Living on the Water

On board, the Hardy 45 European features:

  • Expansive aft deck helm at the yacht’s centre of gravity for a stable and smooth ride

  • Full-beam owner’s stateroom with king-size bed and full-standing headroom

  • Forward guest cabin with double bed

  • Luxurious saloon and galley

  • Seating and spaces designed for both extended adventures and day cruising

“Our all-new Hardy 45 European provides an extraordinarily luxurious and secure environment for ocean crossings and long-distance cruising,” said Dave. “But if you prefer the smoother waters of canals and rivers, then she is the perfect vessel for those kinds of voyages too.”
