Hayle-Based Firm Snaps Up North Devon Agency In Continued UK Growth

Classic Cottages has added another string to its bow with the acquisition of North Devon letting agency Ocean Cottages, bringing 55 high-quality holiday homes into its growing portfolio.

The Hayle-based company, which is the UK’s largest independent holiday letting specialist, now manages over 1,400 properties across the country.

North Devon joins the Classic fold

Founded in 2009, Ocean Cottages is a well-known local agency focused on the North Devon coast, including Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton. The agency has built up a loyal customer base and a reputation for personal service — something Classic Cottages says matches its own approach.

Rapid expansion for Hayle-based group

The deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions. It follows the purchase of Norfolk Holiday Homes in July 2024 and Cat Hole Cottages in the Yorkshire Dales later the same year.

Classic Cottages is part of the Sapphire Holidays group, which also owns Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats and Unique Hideaways. Together, the group now manages just over 2,700 properties across the UK and handles more than £60 million in holiday bookings each year. Headquartered in Hayle, the group employs over 190 staff, most of whom are based in Cornwall.

£2m investment in new Hayle base

As the business continues to grow, Classic Cottages and sister brand Boutique Retreats are preparing to move into new purpose-built offices later this year. The £2 million development will transform a former industrial unit at Hayle Business Park into a low-carbon, high-tech space next to Sapphire House, the group’s main headquarters.

The investment reinforces Sapphire Holidays’ commitment to long-term growth and local employment in Cornwall. The company is a certified B Corporation, meeting strict standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
