Free Training Scheme Boosts Safety and Confidence for Mobility Scooter Retailers
Unique Mobility, a renowned retailer in the mobility scooter and powered wheelchair sector, has successfully completed the Powered Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter (PWMS) Retailers Training Scheme.
This significant achievement was announced recently by Driving Mobility, the charity overseeing this essential training supported by the Department for Transport.
Essential Training for Enhanced Road Safety
Driving Mobility’s initiative is a milestone in enhancing road safety, aiming to equip retailers with the necessary skills to advise and assess customers effectively. The training ensures that individuals purchasing or hiring mobility vehicles receive comprehensive guidance tailored to their specific needs, along with crucial safe driving tips. The programme addresses a significant gap in the national industry standard for the assessment and training of new mobility vehicle users, which has often led to the purchase of vehicles that are unsuitable for their abilities.
Upcoming Training Session Alert!
The next training session is scheduled for 3rd May 2024 at the Cornwall Mobility, located in the North Buildings of Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, Cornwall. Driving Mobility ensures an engaging training experience by providing lunch at the venue. Retailers interested in participating in this free training can contact Driving Mobility directly or register through their online form.
Why Should Retailers Participate?
Retailers participating in the scheme will receive a certificate and an eye-catching window sticker, signaling to customers that the retailer has undergone officially accredited training. This accreditation not only boosts consumer confidence but also positions the retailers as reputable sources for mobility scooters and powerchairs, backed by clinically-led training for optimal customer assessment.
Endorsements from Industry Leaders
The scheme has received endorsements from key figures such as Edward Trewhella, CEO of Driving Mobility, and Richard Holden MP, Roads and Accessibility Minister. Both have highlighted the importance of the scheme in improving road safety and supporting independent mobility for people with restricted mobility through adequately trained retailers.
Join the Conversation and Drive Mobility Forward
Driving Mobility encourages ongoing dialogue about the importance of safety and proper customer guidance in the mobility vehicle industry. Retailers and the public are invited to follow their updates and engage in discussions using the hashtag #PWMS.
For those interested in advancing their knowledge and contributing to safer mobility solutions, the upcoming session in Cornwall presents a perfect opportunity. Join the effort to drive mobility forward by signing up for the next PWMS Retailers Training Scheme and ensure your business stands out as a leader in customer safety and satisfaction.
