New system available for businesses in Liskeard, Looe, Saltash and Torpoint

A free trial of a new business crime reduction system has just launched in East Cornwall, aiming to support traders and help police catch shoplifters more effectively.

Devon & Cornwall Police are encouraging businesses in Liskeard, Looe, Saltash and Torpoint to sign up for a pilot of the UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC) Business Crime Reduction Solution. The platform gives retailers an alternative way to report shoplifting and share information with police.

The free trial is available now and will run until May 2026. Numbers are limited, so businesses are being urged to sign up as soon as possible.

“Better outcomes, quicker”

Inspector Ned Bowie, who leads neighbourhood policing in the area, said:
“We know the devastating impact shoplifting can have on local businesses, especially for the smaller traders that are also targeted. We hope that this trial will offer businesses effective support in gathering evidence to target offenders.”

He added that UKPAC will work directly with local officers to share intelligence:
“The UKPAC team will work closely with our neighbourhood officers, liaising directly to share evidence packages that are created using information shared by businesses on the platform. They’ll also work alongside traders to help build strong, quality evidence against offenders.

“The intelligence we’ll receive from the platform will be invaluable in our investigations, helping us to achieve better outcomes, quicker.”

Reporting still matters, whichever route you take

Inspector Bowie made it clear that all reports of crime are taken seriously, no matter how they are submitted.
“Whether traders use the new system available to them or they choose to report through traditional channels, we want businesses to know that we take all reports of crime seriously, no matter what way they’re reported to us.

“Let’s continue working collaboratively to tackle business crime and put prolific offenders before the courts.”

The pilot has been funded by the police’s summer policing fund as part of wider efforts to improve engagement with businesses.
