Could Your Pop-Up Business Be Cornwall’s Next Big Hit? 12 Prime Sites Available Now
Cornwall Council is on the lookout for budding entrepreneurs with fresh, exciting ideas for pop-up businesses. There are 12 council-owned sites up for grabs, ranging from coastal car parks to scenic moorland spots, all available to rent.
The council’s tender exercise offers a unique opportunity for enterprising individuals to bring new businesses to these locations. Applicants can propose a variety of trades, but all sites must be kept clear overnight.
Where Are the Sites?
The 12 available sites span popular locations across Cornwall, including:
- Commercial Road, Hayle
- Fairground, Helston
- Grogley Halt, Bodmin
- Gyllingvase Coach Park, Falmouth
- Hurlers and Minions Car Park, Minions
- Jubilee Green/The Waterside, Saltash
- Kit Hill, Callington
- Link Road, Padstow
- Main Car Park, Fowey
- Newlyn Green, Newlyn
- Penhalt Cliff, Poundstock
- Scarlets Well, Bodmin
Since the council launched this project in 2016, the pop-up business sites have primarily attracted food trucks and converted horseboxes. However, the council is keen to see even more diverse ideas submitted this time around.
A Proven Track Record of Success
Carol Mould, portfolio holder for Neighbourhoods at Cornwall Council, praised the initiative’s past successes:
“Since we started this project, some of the pop-ups have been really successful.
“We have more sites being added each year and existing sites coming up for renewal, so I would encourage anyone who is thinking of trying something new to look into it properly and see if this could be an opportunity for them.”
How to Apply
Entrepreneurs interested in these opportunities must act quickly—the tender process is already under way, and the deadline for submissions is 22nd January 2025.
Full details, including information on each location and the tender process, can be found on the Council’s website.
With picturesque settings and high footfall potential, this could be the perfect chance to test out your business idea and make it a success.
