Cornwall’s Largest Family Run Holiday Letting Agency Secures Prestigious B Corp Status
Sapphire Holidays Achieves Ethical Business Milestone
Sapphire Holidays, a Cornwall-based holiday letting agency group, has officially become a B Corporation, marking a major achievement in its commitment to ethical business practices, sustainability, and community support.
The certification, recognised globally, extends across Sapphire Holidays and its five leading brands: Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats, Classic Cottages, Unique Hideaways, and Pure.
Family-Run Success with a Sustainable Focus
As the largest family-run holiday letting agency in the UK, Sapphire Holidays manages 2,700 holiday properties across the country, generating over £60 million in annual bookings. With its headquarters in Hayle, the company employs more than 190 people, most of whom are based in Cornwall.
Reflecting on the achievement, Simon Tregoning, owner and chairman of Sapphire Holidays, said:
“Our B Corporation certification means a great deal to us as a family-run business and acknowledges the thought, values and efforts of the entire team in the way we operate.
“It’s something which we’ve embedded in everything we do, from how we treat our employees and customers to how we support our community, contribute to a sustainable economy in Cornwall and celebrate and protect our beautiful environment.”
What It Means to Be a B Corp
B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that meet strict standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It places Sapphire Holidays among a growing movement of over 8,400 companies worldwide, with 2,000 in the UK and more than 80 in Cornwall alone—further cementing the region’s reputation as a leader in sustainable enterprise.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Sapphire Holidays has taken significant steps to reduce its environmental footprint, including:
- Renewable Energy & Low Carbon Operations – The company installed solar panels at its Hayle headquarters and launched a car share scheme that saved over 20,000 commuter miles in 2024.
- Supporting Local Businesses – A strong commitment to sourcing products and services from local suppliers whenever possible.
- Charity & Community Support – Employees are given three paid volunteering days per year, contributing to food banks, environmental initiatives, and other local projects. Over the past two years, the company has donated more than £75,000 to over 60 charities.
- Employee Wellbeing – Staff have access to a fully funded healthcare app with virtual appointments, mental health resources, and wellness programmes.
A £2 Million Green Office Transformation
In line with its sustainability goals, Sapphire Holidays is investing £2 million into transforming a former industrial site at Hayle Business Park into a modern, low-carbon office space. Scheduled for completion later this year, the project will feature:
- Ground source heating
- 132 rooftop solar panels with battery storage
- Electric vehicle charging bays
- Surplus energy contributions to the National Grid
The site, previously occupied by Orion Precision Castings, is being repurposed using materials from the original structure, including its steelwork and concrete footprint. This follows the success of Sapphire House, which was built in 2020 to accommodate the company’s growing workforce.
With its B Corp certification and ongoing sustainability initiatives, Sapphire Holidays continues to position itself as a responsible employer and a key player in Cornwall’s green economy.
