Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New CEO: John Brown Set to Revolutionise Cornish Business Landscape

John Brown has been announced as the new CEO of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, promising to bring fresh energy and a progressive vision to the Cornish business community.
With over 15 years of business experience, John is set to become the new voice of Cornish businesses, succeeding Kim Conchie, who is retiring after more than 12 years in the role.
A New Chapter for Cornish Businesses
John will officially take over at the beginning of July, bringing with him a wealth of experience in brand building and communications. His impressive portfolio includes work with notable brands such as Virgin, lululemon, GoPro, and Frugi. Most recently, John founded and led the creative agency Don’t Cry Wolf, known for its focus on brand activism.
Laura Whyte, Chair of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Board, expressed her enthusiasm about John’s appointment, highlighting his dynamism and extensive experience. She believes that John’s background will keep the Chamber at the forefront of the business sector, helping to navigate the challenges faced by business owners and providing much-needed support.
Vision for Cornwall’s Economic Future
John’s vision for Cornwall is ambitious. He aims to showcase Cornwall as a model for the future economy, focusing on innovation in various sectors such as hospitality, tourism, and sustainability. His commitment to community spirit and planetary stewardship is evident in his plans to support businesses of all sizes, from micro enterprises to large corporations.
John stated, “I want the world to know that Cornwall is the blueprint for the future economy. Every major area is represented in this gorgeous landscape. My great privilege is to support, fight for and deliver results to the full scope of the Cornish economy.”
Building on a Strong Foundation
Kim Conchie, the outgoing CEO, leaves behind a legacy of significant achievements, including the development of a strong brand image for the Chamber and the launch of key projects. Although stepping down, Kim will remain actively involved in Cornwall’s business community through various roles, including his position on the Chamber board.
Reflecting on his tenure, Kim said, “I have had an amazing 12 years at Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. With the support of a brilliant team, we have cultivated a brand image that the Chamber and our members can be proud of. The time is right to hand over the reins, and I am delighted with John’s appointment.”
Meet the New CEO
John is eager to meet as many Chamber members as possible during his first month. Members can meet him at the Chamber’s Connected Lunch on Wednesday, 3rd July at Falmouth Golf Club and the Cornwall Business Fair on Wednesday, 17th July at Truro School.
With John Brown at the helm, the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is poised to embark on an exciting new era, driving innovation and growth in the region’s business community.
